Aromasin (Exemestane)

Aromasin, the brand name for exemestane, is an oral medication classified as an aromatase inhibitor. It is primarily prescribed to treat hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. By reducing estrogen levels in the body, Aromasin helps slow or halt the growth of estrogen-dependent cancer cells.

Mechanism of Action: Aromasin works by irreversibly binding to the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for converting androgens into estrogens. This binding leads to a significant reduction in estrogen levels, thereby inhibiting the growth of estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells.
